Florence is in the heart of Tuscany and it's perfect as a base to day trips

 

 

Florence is situated in the heart of Tuscany region, and it's ideal as a base to day trips. You may visit San Gimignano and Siena in a day and also Lucca and Pisa in a day.  Off course two days are not enough to see al Tuscany ..there is Volterra, Isola d' Elba...etc . Here I just indicate for you the 'must see' cities but if you have more time to dedicate, Tuscany will not let you down!

SIENA - The land of Palio
San Gimignano - Absolutely Romantic

            Siena is a very  impressive medieval city built on a classic tuscany hill with walls all around and a magnificient round square dedicated to PALIO, the famous horse rase that divides the city in 'contrade', palio teams. You will notice everywhere the little palio signs next to the entrance doors.

To Siena, take the bus from Sita Bus Terminal next to the Florence Central Train Station (Santa Maria Novella).
Busses run hourly and arrive in front of the main entrance to Piazza Tozzi, next to Mediaeval Walls, in the Historical Center.

The cost of the ticket one way is € 6,50 on the ticket office, € 8,00 on board.

On the way to Siena you will find San Gimignano, a romantic medioeval little city , elegant and calm.

San Gimignano ( not easy to pronounce ! ) is a sweet medioeval city on the way to Siena. Particular and nobile, ideal for couples I'll say!

To San Gimignano, take the bus from Sita Bus Terminal next to the Florence Central Train Station (Santa Maria Novella).
Busses run hourly and arrive in front of the main entrance to San Gimignano Walls.

The cost of the ticket one way is € 5,90 on the ticket office, € 8,00 on board.

 

Pisa ( and not Pizza )
Could you miss the leaning tower?

 

Pisa is a must! Could you miss the foto with the lining tower! You may reach the square of the miracles on foot from the main train station and there you will findi, the lining tower, duomo of Pisa and the main museum. To Pisa, take the train from the Florence Central Train Station (Santa Maria Novella).
Train run every 40min and arrive at Pisa Centrale Train Station, to reach the airport you can take the bus that start in front of the main entrance called "Linea Rossa" (red line) or by train (there are train hourly that connect Pisa Centrale with Pisa Aeroporto). The cost of the ticket one way is € 5,40.

 

 

 

 

Lucca - A gorgeus little town

 

Lucca is a unique, particular city different from the classic tuscany cities. It situated in a valley sarounded by the walls.

It has it's own artist style and the walk around the walls during the sunset is so calm and blissful.To Lucca, take the train from the Florence Central Train Station (Santa Maria Novella). It's about 1.30' distance.
Another way to reach Lucca is by car. Take the highway A11 Firenze Mare in direction West, you'll reach Lucca in 50min.
